We have seven main chakras and their purpose is to enable the flow of our natural energy around our body. Sometimes, our chakras can become out of balance, which can disrupt the energy flow and affect our health and wellbeing. This gentle chakra balancing meditation is one way we can bring our chakras back into harmony to support our overall wellbeing.

What are the seven chakras?
Your chakras are energy ports situated around your body. They allow the natural flow of your energy system to your body. Although it is believed there are many chakras on the body, there are seven main chakras that we tend to focus on.
Each of these chakras is represented by its own colour and vibration. This makes it possible to use crystals and music, as alternative method to balance your chakras.
If you don’t know where these are, the image above gives an indication of where the chakras are situated on the body. The base chakra is located at the base of the spine. The sacral is just below the navel. The solar plexus is on the stomach. The heart chakra is over the heart. The throat chakra is on the throat. The third eye is between the eyebrows.
It is worth noting that the seventh chakra is located at the crown of the head and is most commonly represented by the colour purple. Although, it may also be represented as bright white, as it is in the image above.
The benefits of balancing your chakras
It is vital the chakras are working in harmony to ensure they are functioning at an optimum level. If they aren’t, you may experience a range of physical symptoms or emotional imbalances.
A fully functioning, open and balanced chakra will be spinning in a circle and in a clockwise direction. This supports the wellbeing of the organs and the physical part of the body each chakra represents.
A chakra can become out of balance if a trauma has been experienced. For example, if you experience a heartbreak, the pain you feel is related to the emotions of that trauma. This kind of a trauma can damage the heart chakra and it will require balancing to bring it, and your physical and emotional health, back into balance.
Chakra balancing meditation exercise
This chakra balancing meditation is a fantastic exercise to bring your chakra system back into harmony.
Focus on each chakra one at a time, beginning with your base chakra and gradually working up to your crown chakra. I have also given you a short affirmation to hold in your mind as you focus on balancing each chakra.
Find somewhere quiet where you won’t be disturbed. This exercise should take around 10 minutes to do. You can sit or lay down, whichever you feel most comfortable doing. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths until you are feeling relaxed and ready for meditation. After you have finished this exercise, take a few moments before bringing your awareness back to your surroundings.
