Protect Yourself Against Negativity

Do you ever find yourself feeling drained after being in the company of certain people? Or maybe you feel that sometimes people are saying or thinking negative things about you, even when you aren’t in the same location as each other. These people are often referred to as ‘energy thieves’ and can leave you feeling exhausted and depleted of energy. The good news is that there are ways you can protect yourself against negativity.

How do we end up feeling drained of energy?

We can’t always go about our business and not come into contact with some form of negativity. Whether it’s office gossip, or a friend going through a bad time and you’ve become a regular shoulder to cry on, it is likely you will come across situations that leave you feeling depleted of energy.

This happens because you are literally being drained of energy each time someone around you is being negative. In fact, as we are all connected energetically, if someone is talking about you or thinking bad thoughts about you, they are quite literally sending this negativity your way. It is possible you can be equally affected by this, as you would be if you were in a room with someone who is moaning or gossiping.

Years ago, I worked in a department with low morale. There was not a day that went by that I didn’t hear bad words or tittle tattle about other colleagues. Often, some would stand in corners whispering and I just knew that negative words were being exchanged. It was taking its toll on many of the people I worked with, including me.

I would regularly arrive home each evening feeling drained and exhausted. Not because of the heavy workload, but because the atmosphere in the department was toxic. Until such a time I could remove myself from that environment, I began to look at ways I could protect myself in the meantime.

I came across a great energy protection exercise that I used on a daily basis. I found it to be effective and I noticed I could effectively protect myself from these energy thieves.

Protect Against Negativity – Energy Protection Exercise

Over time, I have adapted the exercise I originally used and created my own energy protection exercise to protect against negativity. I have shared this exercise with many of my clients and they also reported positive results.

  • Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed.
  • Take a few deep breaths until you notice yourself physically relaxing.
  • Close your eyes and imagine yourself walking through a beautiful wildflower meadow.
  • You can feel the warmth of the sun on your face and you can see the variety of wildflowers and their different shapes, sizes and colours. The flowers and long meadow grass are swaying in the gentle breeze.
  • Up ahead you notice a giant bubble, with dancing rainbow colours, glistening in the sunlight.
  • This bubble is your energy protection bubble.
  • As you approach it, the bubble invites you to step inside. As you do so, you hear a comforting popping sound as the bubble surrounds you.
  • The walls of the bubble are flexible, yet strong, and hold within it the positive and supportive energy you need at this time.
  • Once you are in the bubble, there is nothing that can pass through the walls, except love and good intentions.
  • All negativity, unwelcome thoughts, bad words and negative intentions are bounced straight off the walls of your energy protection bubble.
  • Nothing, but love and good intentions, can reach you.
  • Open your eyes in your own time and bring your attention back to your surroundings.
  • You are now ready to go ahead with your day, knowing you are within your bubble and your energy is protected.

The more you practice this exercise, the more effective it will become. Your protection bubble can last for a while, but if you feel you need a boost, then take a few moments to run through the exercise again and place the protection bubble around you once more.

This exercise is also effective when you feel you need healing. Know that healing can occur when allowing your energy to be protected from negativity.

Protecting yourself against negativity is good for all aspects of your wellbeing; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

I would love to know how you get on with my energy protection exercise. Let me know in the comments below!
